Kioto glanced over Andy's shoulder to see the stunning black wolf. Her own crystal blue wolf eyes sparkled at him, as she had so long wished she was a pureblooded wolf. Her envy rose even higher when the second much smaller wolf entered her view. Her ears flattened and she spoke with an understanding tone. "...and I am most delighted to meet you..." she said lightly. "I have never seen a real pure wolf in my life, other than my mother." Her chestnut fur slowly began to stand on end, and her heart beated faster. They are not as Andy spoke of... she thought.

Cassius was a bit thrown by the female's body language. Things, apparently, ran a little different around here. Cassius kept an eye on Rakil. He considered the young wolf his responsibility. Trying to act casual, Cassius moved just enough to position himself between the strangers and Rakil. No sense taking chances.

Andy saw the light in her eyes, and instantly his fur stood on end as he turned around quickly. The black wolf, though young, had a size to match his own, and Andrew was no small dog, being so pure in blood and made of steel.
It was not normal for a wolf to be prowling the streets. It went without reason, and this wolf was old enough to understand the dangers of coming here. Dogs did not take kindly to their cousins wandering the streets of their masters. His family being one of them.
"Pleasure indeed." He said wearily, watching. "But why are you here? You must realize the danger." The wolves must have been told stories just as the dogs' own pups have.

Not understanding Andy's question, Cassius felt compelled to ask, "What do you mean? Was it wrong to come here? Did we do something? It feels dangerous, but what would make it so? I came because I was merely curious. I didn't mean to cause trouble." Wary of the strangers' reactions, Cassius backed slowly off, driving Rakil behind him. He'd only heard of the ghost town in passing. Rakil was actually the one that had suggested coming here. Realizing that the young wolf probably hadn't known that the inhabitants were going to be so close-minded, Cassius decided they had over-stayed their welcome. "Rakil, let's go. Obviously these dogs have something against us," he knew he had over-emphasized the word dog on purpose, but he went on, "I hope both our curiosities were satisfied." Giving one last penetrating glance to the mix female, he figured they had gone far enough, and he took the risk of turning his back to beat a hastier retreat.

Rakil whimpered slightly at Cassius' rudeness, but followed nonetheless. Seeing the the two forms Rakil stopped. 'Aren't they funny...' He thought, 'Like wolves, but different... Dogs. Interesting creatures.'
Rakil stood stock still during the exchange of greetings and talk, never once speaking. He watched as Cassius turned around and started to leave. Finally, Rakil found his voice, "No, my curiousity has not been satisfied." Rakil, though very frightened of his own defiance, sat down on his haunches resolutely. "I came here, because I lived my life in a desolate wasteland. And now, that I'm finally here, you ask me to leave? I might not like the air of this place, and everyone might not be friendly... but... I still have questions."
Rakil turned to the others, "I apologize. My name is Rakil. I'm an Indian wolf. May I ask your names? I mean no offense. As Cassius said, we don't mean trouble." Rakil lowered his head slightly in respect, and took a quick glance at Cassius.

Kioto spoke up in a manner accustomed to her own kind. "Little wolf, Rakil... I assure you that you will leave here with many questions unanswered. But hopefully I can answer some for you. My name would be Kioto." She placed her head on her bowed leg, submitting a casual greeting. She glanced up at the larger, darker wolf with curiosity. Her ice eyes flicked like a candle wick once, and she knew that her wolf heritage could be plainly seen. They must think I am extremely weak... she thought. Because of my living on the streets... and the rancid food that I eat! It is an aweful place. I should tell them to leave... I wish I could... Her gaze drifted to the ground, where it dully stayed for some time. How would she do out in the wild, anyway? She had never dared to try on her own. But maybe with others... in a pack...

Andy drew himself up slightly, not in a threataning manner but more to make himself a little more presentable. The mix was acting peculiar around this company, and Andy rather felt the odd one out.
"It is dangerous for a wolf to wander the streets in a dog town, cousin. You have probably done nothing, at least nothing I would accuse you of now, but I do think it is best that you leave."
He spoke to the black one, then looked around at the other two. The younger wolf had no intention of leaving, and mix seemed a little too awestruck to think properly. They were not going to leave, too ignorant and too interested in the mystery of clashing cultures.
"Or perhaps move it to a more secure location." Andy suggested slowly. He doubted anyplace would be safe for long, but possibly long enough for them to finish with their questioning and be gone. It wasn't only their lives he feared for now, but also his own.

Cassius was insulted by the dog's abrasive manner, and more than surprised by Rakil's sudden outburst. Stunned into a brief speechlessness he merely sat back on his haunches again and watched the drama play out. He was intrigued by the mix yet again as she introduced herself. Her sense of decorum was different from the dog's. He hadn't even bothered to give his name, just spouted off random warnings. Was this place really that bad? Cassius found that he didn't like his harsh way of speaking to outsiders. Getting the feeling that it was because Rakil and he were wolves, Cassius felt even more offended. Reluctant to stay any longer, but not wishing to leave Rakil behind, he waited for the young wolf to decide to leave.

Rakil was glad to see Cassius wasn't leaving, 'At least he's a good friend.' Returning the gesture to Kioto, Rakil spoke. "It's an honor, Kioto." Rakil turned sharply and tensed with disgust as Andy suggested moving. "If it's such a good idea, we will. However, you could at least show some niceties." Rakil nearly barked the last sentence. "Even if we are foreigners, we deserve some respect. It's not our fault we didn't grovel to the furless. I understood the dangers of this place before I came."
Rakil stood up and stalked towards Andy, no longer frightened but disgusted with this arrogant dog's gruffness. "I might be smaller than you, but I was born in the desert. I've fought for my life from the day I was born. You don't scare me. You're disgusting."
Rakil turned to Kioto and padded over to her. "I apologize for the outburst. Perhaps we should find somewhere else to speak." Glancing at Cassius, Rakil smiled. "Nice place isn't it?"

Kioto was intrigued by the Indian wolf as he stood up for himself. "Young wolf, as I say right now... Andy is not trying to be offensive. And yet, I have been wondering why he is telling you to go as well." She turned her head to face the shepherd. Could it be that he is afraid, afraid to let these wild wolves see the horrid way that we live? Maybe so... Her eyes met Rakil's once again. "This city is a deserted place where things are continuosly dying. I think Andy is afraid of what you might say if you found out about this pathetic way of life." She sighed as she confessed the reality. "Many that live here are starving. I'm happy to say that I have not sunk so low as to eat the rancid food that we occasionally find lying on the ground..."

Andy showed patience as the naive pup gave him a bit of tongue. It was an uncalled for outburst, as Andy never once showed anger or disrespect in any way, and he gave Kioto a sideways glance; proof of what he had said only a few minutes prior to the visit of the other two.
Then the other stood up for him, despite the threat of taunting from the wolves, and Andy thought he might have truly found a friend, but what she said after was wrong wrong wrong.
"It has nothing to do with worrying what they will think." He said, backing up a bit to put them all in full view. "It doesn't matter that we struggle and live in poverty. We are still strong." He spoke as if directly referencing his family. "And some blame the wolves, hold them in spite for the lifestyle they live and their ability to survive. It gives many of them great pleasure to find a wolf. It doesn't matter that they lack proper food; the dogs have numbers, and you are only two." Three if you counted Kioto, and four if you counted an Andy.

Kioto wished Andy would understand. It hurt a bit as he talked of the wolves, with her being seventy-five percent wolf blood. And yet, she still wanted to talk good about him. She wished the wolves were gone so that she could talk to him privately and try to better explain things, without so many interruptions. She looked at him with an expression of tranquility.
"Andy... we are starving. Look at yourself! And me. And then look at them. They don't have a bone in their body that sticks out. Their food must be good." She turned her face back to her wild ancestors, reading their expressions carefully. Then she closed her eyes, saying the words, "The dogs do not have numbers, for I was alone before I met you today, Andy." She sighed and looked up once again at the black furred one and the smaller one. "But you two have come from a pack, where you have others to support you."
